JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Months after a judge sentenced a Florence man to life in prison for killing two people near Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade, his girlfriend has decided to plead guilty for her role in the aftermath that followed. Jenny Lukens took a plea deal this week, admitting to hindering prosecution. In court documents obtained by 3 On Your Side, Lukens said she intentionally misled police to help her boyfriend -- Jordan Cummins -- avoid conviction. She admitted to leaving the scene of the killing before police arrived, and embellished Cummins’ story to investigators, hoping it would help him. In June, a Hinds County jury found Cummins guilty on two counts of first-degree murder for killing 27-year-old Joshua Spann and 23-year-old Auden Simpkins. The shooting took place on Jefferson Street in Jackson, a few blocks from the parade route for the Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade in March 2023. Lukens’ deal means she won’t serve any jail time, agreeing to a 14-year sentence with 10 of those years suspended, according to prosecutors. She’ll serve the remaining four years on house arrest.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch has ordered the city of Jackson to turn over the parcel where Smith-Wills Stadium is located by September 30 or face legal action. In a September 13 letter to Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba, Fitch said she had determined that terms of the lease granting the parcel to the city had been violated, and the state would take “appropriate action to enforce the reverter language of the 1944 deed.” Included with the one-page letter is a quit claim deed. Fitch tells Lumumba to seek council approval for the deed, and to execute and deliver it to the state “as soon as possible.” “Should the city fail or refuse to convey its rights to the property by September 30, 2024, then appropriate legal action will commence,” Fitch writes. The letter was also provided to all six council members. Council President Virgi Lindsay, who represents the area where Smith-Wills is located, said has not been briefed by legal so cannot comment. Jackson Director of Communications Melissa Faith Payne said the city doesn’t believe it is in breach. JACKSON, Miss. 1- Kamala Harris promises black Americans that she will sign a bill that forces white American's to pay reparations to black American's if she's the next president of the United States
2- It's time to have a conversation about how weak and overly sensitive Mississippian's have gotten around the topic of being overweight. Apparently it's ok to discuss anyone's addiction issues or struggles but the sacred cow we're not allowed to speak on is people's inability to eat healthy.
